Private Online Course Catalogue and Registration

Challenge

The CREB Education Department offers a wide range of courses to their 4000+ members. With the introduction of an entirely new listing software package (MLXchange) early in 2003 they were faced with a dramatic number of new courses and registrations. There were immediate concerns with regards to telephone wait times and over-filling classes.

Solution

Claero Systems created an on-line course registration system that allowed members to view course information, schedules, availability, and to register themselves. The new system also integrates with their internal membership computer system that tracks the registrations and schedules for normal classes.

Results

During the first month after launch, there were 1,600 registrations made online. Six months later, there have been over 8,300 registrations made using the online tool. The system provides efficient, no-hassle self-service to the CREB members and it also reduces the amount of time and error in taking registrations in person or over the phone.

Challenge

The existing www.creb.com site was in need of major improvements. The amount of information on the site was huge, and over the years the pages had become unorganized and difficult to use. The site back-end consisted of many different technologies and products running on several disparate computer systems. There was also no comprehensive content management system to allow non-programmers to update content.

Windows 2000 Web Server Configuration

Challenge

The server hosting the www.creb.com website was going down on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. This website experiences traffic of over 30,000+ unique visitors per month. More than 5,000 of the website visitors are paying members who rely on the tools and resources found on the private area of the site to function as REALTORS. The website is also a critical tool for the Communications department of the CREB, and figures as a central resource in their communications strategy.

Solution

Claero created and implemented a plan for re-installation of software on the server, ensuring no down time during cut-over. The new installation included all software and services required immediately, as well as for developments planned in the future. Finally, Claero outlined maintenance tasks and responsibilities for the future in order to avoid the reaccurance of any problems.

Results

www.creb.com has experienced no unscheduled down time in the last eight months since re-installation. The CREB, their members, and Claero have been able to focus entirely on improvements to creb.com for members and the public alike, pushing forward the strategic plans of the Calgary Real Estate Board. And for the paying members, downtime is no longer an issue.
